how do i have faith

How do I have faith?

How do I have faith? You don't... Faith comes to you.

How did Jesus come to be recognized as the Christ/Messiah? Was it because of the miracles, signs and wonders He performed? Or was it because of His fulfillment of the Word of God?

What did He fulfill, and what does it imply?

What is "Word of God," and what is it for anyway?

Some of Jesus' own disciples where confused as to who He really was- though He was with them in the flesh. By the power of God's Spirit Jesus taught from the Law and performed miracles, signs and wonders right before their very eyes- and still He was betrayed, denied, rejected and crucified by His own.

Knowing that- how do we as pastors, preachers, evangelist, priests etc.(what ever we want to call ourselves) expect and or request people to "repent and believe," after reading how effective Law, miracles, signs and wonders really are in the realm of faith? Yes there is a purpose for the Law, but it is not for faith. Also, miracles, sings and wonders can come or be performed from either side- good or evil. So they should never be the focal point or "proof"- they are only an effect of "a cause." Jesus taught us to make sure we knew what the source of that "effect" was, so we would not become ensnared and deceived.

We were called to live by faith and not by sight.

What is faith?

Galatians 3:11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”

Galatians 3:12 Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.”

2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

So how do I have faith?

You don't... Faith comes to you.

Romans 10:17 17 So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

Luke 8:18 “So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.”

Romans 10:14-15 14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

God's will for mankind is far greater than just going to church and about hearing any talk about Jesus Christ. He is not interested in you having to practice religion. God is interested in you personally understanding the Truth about Him, and who He really is in you, for you. That's the Truth of the Bible, from which no man can make any money off of, or force you in to believing something you do not understand. God is for you, not against you.

1 Timothy 2:3-4 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
