The Lord taught us to honor our father and mother with our money. The pharisees taught to turn our eyes from our parents needs and give our money to God first. Which is truth?

Matthew 15:3-7 Jesus replied, "And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God? For instance, God says, 'Honor your father and mother; and Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death.' But you say it is all right for people to say to their parents, 'Sorry, I can't help you. For I have vowed to give to God what I would have given to you.' 2 Corinthians 9:7 So let each give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

God is not after your money. God is for you. The truth is important to know.
